We welcome students aged 6-25 to submit their literary and artistic pieces to Mots Entre Nous, an online French magazine celebrating language, culture, and creativity. Submissions are reviewed on a rolling basis for our monthly issues.
We do not accept any form of offensive content, including pieces that promote hateful speech.
We seek original artwork and written work that reflect diverse perspectives and experiences related to the French language and Francophone culture. While we encourage submissions in French, we also accept bilingual pieces that explore themes of language learning, cultural identity, and creative expression.
To submit, please fill out the form below. We do not have any strict formatting requirements and accept previously published pieces, provided that the original publication permits republication. You are welcome to submit as many pieces as you like.
Artists may include AI-generated elements in their artwork, but if AI tools are used, the original AI-generated content must be submitted along with the artist’s process work, and information about the application used should be provided.
For written work, we invite submissions across various genres, including:
- Essays & Opinion Pieces: Reflections on bilingualism, cultural exchanges, or current events in the Francophone world.
- Creative Writing: Short stories, poetry, and prose inspired by French literature or personal experiences.
- Book & Film Reviews: Analyses of French-language books, films, and media.
- Historical & Cultural Features: Profiles of significant figures, events, or traditions in Francophone history.
- Personal Narratives: Experiences of learning French, studying abroad, or growing up in a multilingual environment.
While AI-generated literary pieces are not accepted, we encourage originality and authentic storytelling.
If you submit a nonfiction piece, please include your references as part of your submission.
We will respond to submissions within one week to let you know if your submission has been accepted to our magazine, and we will provide at least three lines of editorial feedback to all contributors.
